Frequently Asked Questions

General

What is Japan VPN?

Japan VPN is a WireGuard-based VPN service that gives you a Japanese IP address, allowing you to access FANZA, DMM, and other Japanese content from anywhere in the world.

How does it work?

When you connect to Japan VPN, your internet traffic is routed through our server in Japan (IP: 162.43.74.130). Websites see you as a Japanese user and grant you full access.

Is it safe to use?

Yes. We use WireGuard, the most modern and secure VPN protocol available. We have a strict no-logs policy — we never track, store, or share your browsing activity.

Plans & Billing

What plans are available?
  • 1-Week Pass: ¥500/week — perfect for trying Japan VPN
  • Monthly Plan: ¥1,200/month — most popular
  • 6 Month Plan: ¥6,000 (save 17% vs monthly)
How do I cancel?

You can cancel anytime from your account dashboard. Your access continues until the end of the billing period.

Can I get a refund?

Yes, we offer a 7-day refund policy if the service is not working for you. Contact support@japanvpn.net.

Devices & Account

Can I use Japan VPN on multiple devices?

Your subscription allows use on 1 device at a time. You can install the config file on multiple devices, but please connect from only one device simultaneously. Sharing your config file with other people is not permitted under our Terms of Service.

Can I change my device?

Yes. Log in to your account and visit “My VPN” to download your config file or scan the QR code on any new device.

I lost my config file. How do I get it again?

Log in to your account at japanvpn.net/my-account/ and go to “My VPN” to download a new copy or scan the QR code.

Troubleshooting

I can’t connect. What should I do?
  1. Make sure the WireGuard toggle is turned ON (shows “Active”)
  2. Try switching from WiFi to mobile data — some networks block UDP port 51820
  3. Disconnect and reconnect
  4. Contact support@japanvpn.net with your order number
I’m still seeing my real IP after connecting.

Make sure the tunnel status shows “Active” in the WireGuard app. If the issue persists, try removing the tunnel and re-importing the config file.

I didn’t receive my setup email.

Check your spam/junk folder for an email from noreply@japanvpn.net. If it’s not there, contact support@japanvpn.net with your order number and we’ll resend it.

Does Japan VPN work in China?

WireGuard on UDP port 51820 may be blocked in China. We recommend trying mobile data rather than WiFi in China.

FANZA/DMM videos won’t play on my phone app.

Some streaming apps (like DMM動画+) may bypass the VPN connection and connect directly to the internet, causing playback or download errors even while the VPN is connected. We recommend:

  1. Use a browser instead of the app: Visit dmm.co.jp in your phone’s browser (Chrome/Safari) while connected to Japan VPN. Browser traffic always goes through the VPN.
  2. On Android: Open WireGuard settings and make sure all apps are routed through the VPN (no apps are excluded).
  3. Clear app cache: Go to Settings → Apps → DMM動画+ → Clear Cache, then restart the app while VPN is connected.
FANZA/DMM still shows a player error even in the browser.

If you see a DMM Player error (e.g. code V1001) even though your IP shows Japan, the most common cause is old cookies saved from before you connected the VPN. DMM remembers your previous location in cookies and may block playback based on that. Follow these steps:

  1. Use Incognito / Private mode (quickest fix): Open Chrome → tap the three-dot menu → “New Incognito Tab”. Visit dmm.co.jp and log in again. Incognito mode ignores old cookies.
  2. Clear cookies for DMM: In Chrome, go to Settings → Privacy and Security → Clear Browsing Data → select “Cookies and site data” → Clear. Then reconnect VPN and visit FANZA again.
  3. Enable Protected Content (DRM): In Chrome, type chrome://settings/content/protectedContent in the address bar and make sure “Sites can play protected content” is turned on.
  4. Use Google Chrome: Other browsers may have limited DRM support. Chrome has the best compatibility with DMM’s video player.
